Two individuals in Florida have been arrested after authorities reportedly discovered large quantities of illegal drugs in their home. In October, authorities obtained a search warrant for the residence after a long-term investigation into a drug trafficking operation. Once they performed the raid, they claim to have discovered large quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia. Authorities also say they discovered thousands of dollars in cash.

The individuals were arrested and transferred to a holding facility. One of the individuals has received a number of drug charges including possession and trafficking. His bond has been set at $16,000. His partner received similar charges and is currently being held on a $5,500 bond.

During the raid, the authorities also found two children in the home. The children were taken away by social services. A third adult was also discovered in the home, but media reports do not indicate whether this person received any criminal charges.

What should you do if you’re facing drug charges?

You don’t have to be trafficking thousands of dollars in illegal drugs to be charged with drug crimes. Hundreds of people are arrested every day for possessing small amounts of cocaine or marijuana. Regardless of the severity of the charges, a drug-related conviction can alter your life permanently. You might lose custody of your kids, lose your job and find it difficult to get hired anywhere else.

If you’re facing drug charges, you might wish to call a criminal defense attorney. An attorney may be able to analyze the prosecution’s case for weak spots. If they discover that the prosecution acted unlawfully or used inadmissible evidence, they might present that information before a judge to get your charges reduced or dropped altogether.
